Disclaimer and independence

This page records what this journal is, what it is not, and how it is funded. It is written so that a reader never has to guess whether something on this site was paid for.

Last revised July 27, 2026

Independence

Krueger Travel takes no money from anybody it writes about.

There are no affiliate arrangements and no commissions. There are no sponsored stories, no paid placements, no advertorial, and no paid mentions. No place named in a story provided a free stay, a free meal, free transport, or a discount, and no place was told in advance that it would appear. No advertising runs on the site as published.

The journal is funded entirely by Krueger Editions LLC, the Hawaii company that publishes it. That is the whole funding model.

If any of this ever changes, the change will appear on this page and on the About page, and any story affected will carry a plain statement at the top of the piece, before the first paragraph, rather than a line at the bottom. Advertising, if it were ever introduced, would be labelled as advertising and the Cookie Policy would be rewritten before anything was placed in a reader's browser.

Not a travel service

This site is a journal. It is not a travel agency, a tour operator, a booking platform, a fare comparison service, a rental service, or an agent for any of those.

Nothing here can be booked, reserved, held, purchased, or paid for. There is no basket, no checkout, no price, and no payment mechanism of any kind on any page. No arrangement of any part of a trip is offered, and no reader has ever been passed on to a partner, because there are none.

There is no affiliation with any airline, hotel, resort, ferry operator, rental company, tour company, or booking platform, and nothing here is published on behalf of any such business.

Information changes, and coasts change fastest

Every story on this site describes specific days in specific places, and it carries the date it was published for exactly that reason.

Roads close after heavy weather. Access permits and reservation systems are introduced, changed, and withdrawn. Trails wash out. A stairway that was open in one season may be gone in the next, and a beach that had parking for twelve cars in March may have parking for four in August. Seasonal timings shift, and so does what is safe.

Everything here was accurate as far as could reasonably be established on the day it was published. None of it is monitored continuously afterwards. Before acting on any practical detail in a story, check it against a current official source: the agency that manages the site, the local authority, or a current forecast. Corrections sent to the desk are published at the top of the affected story with the date attached.

Not safety advice

The field notes on this site describe how one traveler personally approaches unfamiliar water. They exist because the habits have been useful and because readers asked for them.

They are not professional instruction, a certification, an assessment, or an authority of any kind. They do not replace posted signs, closures, lifeguard direction, local advice, official warnings, or your own judgement about conditions in front of you on the day.

Where anything on this site conflicts with an official source or a posted sign, follow the official source. Where a place is closed, it is closed. Ocean conditions change quickly and without warning, and no written piece can account for the hour you are standing there. Decisions about where to go, what to walk onto, and whether to enter the water are yours alone, and they should be made with local information and honest regard for your own ability.

Not professional advice of any other kind

Nothing on this site is legal, financial, medical, insurance, immigration, or tax advice, and nothing here should be relied on as any of those.

Where a story mentions permits, entry rules, or documentation, it records what applied to one traveler on one trip and may not apply to you at all. Requirements differ by nationality, by purpose of travel, and by date, and they change. Consult the relevant official body or an appropriately qualified professional.

Photographs

All photographs on this site were made by the author on the trips the stories describe. None of them are stock images and none were purchased or licensed from anybody.

Frames are adjusted for exposure, contrast and colour the way any working photographer adjusts a frame. They are not composited, relocated, or assembled from more than one moment, and no element is added to or removed from a scene. A photograph on this site shows what was in front of the camera.

Photographs are the property of Krueger Editions LLC and are not licensed for reuse. The Terms of Use set out what may and may not be done with them.

No guarantees about outcomes

Nothing on this site promises that a trip taken after reading it will go well, that the weather described will repeat, that a view will be available, or that a place will feel the way it felt to one person on one week.

Travel is variable by nature. The same coast produces a different trip in a different season, in different weather, and for a different person, and the stories here say so repeatedly rather than pretending otherwise.

Third party material

This site does not link out to other websites and does not embed content from anywhere else.

Where a public body, a park, or a local authority is named in a story, it is named as a factual reference and not as an endorsement, and no such body has any involvement with this publication or any responsibility for what it says.

Errors

This site is written and edited by one person, and one person makes mistakes. Where a factual error is found, it is corrected at the top of the affected story with the date, rather than quietly.

If you find something wrong, please write to [[email protected]](mailto:[email protected]). Corrections are the most useful mail this desk receives.
